System Requirements

Maian Support is a web based ticket system that has the following requirements: • A web server that supports PHP & MySQL. • 1 MySQL Database (MySQL4/MySQL5) • PHP v4.3 or Higher (PHP5 is recommended) • PHP compiled with imap support for piping functions • IonCube loader support. See links in right hand menu for help.

PHP4 or PHP5

Currently Maian Support will run on PHP versions from 4.3.x to 5.3.x ONLY. Maian Support will NOT currently work with PHP6. As soon as PHP6 support becomes available, the system will be updated. It is recommended you run this system under PHP5.

Web Hosting

Most good hosting companies will be able to meet the above requirements. For a higher level of security you should consider a 'Dedicated Server', but in most cases a 'Shared Hosting' environment will be fine.

Maian Support does not specifically endorse any one host. There are many good ones available, so shop around. Remember that good support is paramount with any host, so ask questions and check out their support levels. Good luck.

Windows v Linux

If you intend to run your website on a shared server, Linux is preferred. If you have to make changes to your servers PHP.ini file, this will probably NOT be possible on a Windows environment. Unlike Linux, where you can override the PHP.ini file, Windows servers only have one PHP.ini file and most hosts will not allow changes to it. ionCube

ionCube is a widely supported and popular encryption system supported by many servers. If your web server can`t run ionCube encoded scripts, contact your web host who will enable this feature for you. You should read the instructions in the documentation about enabling this option. If you have your own server, use the ionCube loader wizard for help on installing the loaders.
